Samples Rules of Procedure
By clicking on the flashing icon to the right, this link will take you to a set of samples rules for
a county legislative body drafted by UT CTAS.  Many counties operate in
accordance with Robert Rules of Order.  If you are interested in a set of
rules more specifically designed for the functions of a county commission,
you may want to consider these rules.  These rules also appear in the
appendices of the UT CTAS County Government Handbook.
Tennessee County Commissioners Association
This past year, the General Assembly passed legislation to revise the procedures used
when the county commission fills a vacancy in a county office.  The link below will take you
to a document drafted by CTAS attorney Kristy Brown that explains the changes made by
the new law.  These new statutes are now effective and apply to vacancies currently before
the county commission for consideration.
